Croquet is a fascinating game played by men and women of all ages. It is a summer sport played outdoors on a grass court the size of two tennis courts. It is a sport which successfully combines ball skills, tactics, sociability and excitement.

2009 Coaching Course a Big Success

This year's introduction to croquet course started successfully on Saturday 23rd May with nearly 30 keen new players enjoying lovely sunny weather for their first taste of croquet.

Bath Croquet Club's team of Jim Field, David Perkins, Andrew Willis (captain) and Nick King won the Second Division title at the South West Federation's Short Croquet Team Event at Nailsea on Sunday 5th April. The Bath team were victorious with 12 wins out of a possible 16. Special mention goes to Jim Field who won 4 out of 4 despite having to do a compulsory peel in each match, and to David Perkins with 3 wins out of 4.
The Club's 2009 season officially got under way at the Recreation Ground on Saturday 28th March. The courts looked in excellent condition, and members enjoyed a mixture of Golf and Association Croquet.
Richard Stopforth who won this year's Millennium Cup tournament in June was deservedly awarded with 2008's Most Improved Player Award at Bath Croquet Club's recent Annual Dinner. Other members including Nick King, Richard Jelly, Roger Hayes, Richard Mills and Jim Field were awarded with trophies for the club's 2008 internal competitions at the dinner held at Bath University in October.

Bath Croquet Club held its' 32nd AGM (since its' 1976 reformation) on Friday 14th November 2008 at St. Mary's Church Hall at the bottom of Bathwick Hill. Nigel Amos and Connie Stopforth were elected to the club's committee to replace the retiring Leonie Wilkinson and Jim Field. Club Chairman Roger Hayes and Daniel Mills were re-elected after retiring by rotation at the AGM.
