David Richards (handicap 5) of Nailsea was declared the winner by virtue of a slightly better 'quality of wins' score than his closest rivals. Sarah Melvin (10, Dyffryn) and David Spear (9, Blewbury) also qualifed for the National Finals to be played at Roehampton Croquet Club on the weekend of 19th and 20th September.

Hester in Bank Holiday Win
The club held a successful Short Croquet competition among members on Bank Holiday Monday 31st August. After 6 games each, Hester Henbury who only took up croquet in 2008, beat Mo Bell in the final with a nail-biting +1 on time victory.
The match was decided by a 'golden hoop' with both players for the same hoop. Bell's ball stuck in the hoop, only for her opponent to be near enough to hit the ball and run the hoop herself to win by 1.
